I think that this site in particular is used as some kind of filter that makes it easier for the ones who prefer to relate to people who are older or much younger than themselves to connect with. I personally don't think that all the people here are merely seeking for an opportunity to flirt.
As for e-mailing, well I know that when I joined this site the idea of corresponding with someone -who might eventually become a friend, seemed more than enough, although I know my "hopeful" side was really wishing to find a good, honest, and older man (the last part was very important,lol) to make my own.
